Spring often brings more buyers into the market.

Homes tend to show well as lawns become greener, daylight hours increase and families begin planning moves before the next school year.

The downside is competition.

More homeowners also tend to list during spring.

That means buyers may have more properties to choose from.

Summer

Summer can work well, particularly for homes with:

Families hoping to move before September may also be motivated.

However, buyer activity can sometimes slow during vacation periods.

Fall

September and October can be excellent selling months.

Winter

Winter gets overlooked.

There may be fewer buyers, but people looking for homes in January and February can be serious buyers.

February could actually provide the better opportunity.

That information is much more useful than relying on general seasonal rules.
